Göksel Baktagir

Göksel Baktagir was born in Kırklareli in 1966. He began his musical education at the age of eight, under the supervision of his father Muzaffer Baktagir. he subsequently registered at the ITU State School Of Art For Turkish Music in 1983 and graduated from there in 1988 . A year later, he started his graduate study at the same school. Göksel Baktagir, began composing during his student years at the conservatory and today has a hundred and forty compositions; thirty-five vocal and a hundred and five instrumental art-works to his credit. He has developed a special left hand technique that is unique to him since 1984 along with other techniques in the performance of the Kanun. Yurdal Tokcan

Yurdal Tokcan is being regarded as one of the finest oud players in the world today. His style combines older traditions with many new stylistic innovations, which are also present in his playing of the fretless guitar. His new compositions combine traditional rich melodies with polyphonic textures performed on Turkish classical instruments. Tokcan is a graduate of Istanbul Technical University’s Turkish State Conservatory. While completing his master’s program there, he joined the faculty as an oud instructor. Ömer Erdoğdular will teach a class with a focus on makam, repertoire, improvisation, and ornamentation techniques primarily for ney, although all instruments are welcome. Coming from a long lineage of music teachers, Ömer Erdoğdular provides in his lessons an opportunity for students to learn the aesthetically unique aspects and styles of Turkish classical music and recognize ney’s distinctive place in this musical tradition. Ömer Erdoğdular started studying music while still a child. He was born in Konya in 1949 and grew up in Istanbul, initially learning ney from his father.
